FAN VERSIONS

With ‘Grow Old With Me’ unfinished by Lennon, there have been numerous ‘fan versions’ of the song created over the decades. These have varied from cleaning up the sound on the original demo to adding full instrumentation to the song. There have also been numerous versions that imagine what the song might have sounded like if the surviving Beatles finished it in the 1990s.

Since the advent of the widespread use of artificial intelligence, there has been an increase in fan-created versions of ‘Grow Old With Me’ on YouTube. Some, such as one by Dae Lims, have generated media attention. This version envisions the song with an AI Paul McCartney singing the middle eight. (I literally wept when I heard it.)

As these fan-created versions often exist in somewhat of a netherworld - and they sometimes contain copyrighted material - I have not linked them here. However, it’s worth exploring YouTube and giving some of them a listen.
